SUMMER TRAINING
At the end of the second-semester examination, it is mandatory for every student of MBA to undergo on-the-job practical training in any manufacturing, service or financial organization. The training will be of 6 to 8 weeks duration. The college/institute will facilitate this compulsory training for students.
Internships are seen by college students as potentially valuable tools to explore general career avenues as well as specific companies. Internships can be a great solution for students to experience a real workplace. Apart from the vocational skills that interns gain, they also get lots of soft skills which are crucial to not only finding a job but succeeding at one as well.
An internship is:
- A controlled work experience related to a student's major and career goal
- An experience that should enhance a student's academic, career, and personal development
- An experience that can be one academic term (summer, spring, fall) or multiple academic terms in length.
- An experience that is mutually agreed upon by the student, supervisor and/or faculty member.
It’s important to note that to qualify for an internship the position does not have to be labelled “internship”. Many part-time jobs, volunteer opportunities, or even summer jobs can qualify as an internship. Internships might also be called a practicum or co-op.
During the training, the student is expected to learn about the organization and analyze and suggest solutions to a live problem. The objective is to equip the student with the knowledge of the actual functioning of the organization and problems faced by them for exploring feasible suggestions.
During the course of training, the organization (where the student is undergoing training) will assign a problem/project to the student.
The student, after the completion of training, will submit a report, to the College/Institute which will form part of the third-semester examination. However, the report must be submitted within a month after the completion of the internship.
Major advantages of Summer Training:
- Get Real Work Experience
- Get a Taste of Your Chosen Field
- Start Networking
- Helps You Choose a Specialty
- Helps You Become More Self-Confident
- Boosts Your CV
- Increases Your Market Value
